Welcome!
Join me in my explorations and musings of how spirituality can be creative fuel for visual art as well as allowing you to live a more authentic life!
Experiencing Samhain
I am advocating the realigning of your energies to match the energies of the shifting seasons. The more we can live in right relationship with creation, the more we will thrive. So let’s have a look at the Celtic festival of Samhain.
Trust more and Worry Less
Trusting God is hard! But when we step out of alignment with the Divine and let the ego drive, we lose our inner peace. Here are some ideas to consider in learning how to trust God more and worry less.
Find peace in your own heart first
The first step toward finding peace in your heart is the practice of seeing the divine everywhere, in all people, and throughout creation. If we do not see the face of God in “the other,” we can not see God.
A big obstacle to seeing God in the other is dualistic thinking. Sometimes referred to as “us/them thinking,” it contributes mightily to the divisiveness in the world today.
Questioning Fear
The fear that you may be feeling actually comes from what moves you, concerns you, and makes you weep. If you didn’t care about the possibility of losing what deeply concerns you, there would be no fear…. These questions now come into play:
Am I showing up from a place of fear or a place of love?
Is my false self or my true self in charge when I’m afraid?
How can we not talk about it?
We cannot not talk about it.
We need to bring our faith and all that we’ve experienced and witnessed - the injustices, poverty, wars, immigration, racism, sexism, and all the traumas happening in the world - together to a large listening table, and with respect and compassion and courage, listen to each other. We need to begin the journey of reconstruction, building a compassionate community and showing up as Christ for others with divine love.
Creativity is an act of devotion
Calling creativity “an act of devotion” is the salve I didn’t know I needed! The words feel like a loving, expansive permission slip to create more!
On the illusion of control
Figuring out exactly what you have control over (spoiler: yourself) and what you don’t control will lead you in the ‘right’ direction for you, the direction that is aligned with your soul.
Taking Up Space and Showing Up
Sketching in Ireland taught me how to take up space and show up for myself.
Maybe you're not meant to know.
Let go of the death grip on certainty and being right, and allow a bit more space for mystery.
Suspending Belief
Here is my challenge for you: can you slow down enough to see the wonder in the most ordinary of moments?
Finding "the place of your resurrection"
Unpack the Celtic phrase “Let your feet follow your heart to the place of your resurrection.” What does all that mean? How can you follow your heart? How can you listen to the voice of your soul? What is specials about the place of your resurrection? And how can you practice resurrection long after Easter Sunday has come and gone.
Inhaling Spirit, Exhaling Art
Are you any good at trusting your gut?
Do you let your intuition be your guide?
I am slowly learning to listen to that still, small voice inside. I’ve often wondered why it can’t be louder so we never miss it? Well, that finally happened. I finally heard my holy howl!
Are you showing up for YOU?
Your art practice needs you to practice showing up!
It's important to show up for your art practice. And for your soul. Keeping promises to yourself is a way to show yourself some loving and grow in self trust.
Lent "by another way"
Lent “by another way” invites you to experience Lent in Godde’s extravagant tenderness! What will you bring with you on this spiritual journey and what do you want to leave behind?
The long darkness is almost over!
You’re invited to join the Wise Souls Circle!
Imbolc Blessings to you on the eve of St. Brigid’s Feast Day. Will you allow Brigid to birth the second coming of Christ in you?
Recapturing Wonder and Awe
Why I started talking to rocks after my trip to Ireland. God’s presence is everywhere all at once. This is a critical and urgent realization for us right now because it requires us to acknowledge the interconnectedness of all creation, all the people and all the rocks.
Hello! My name is...
#Goals:
To empower souls to turn toward that which is deepest within us, rather than waiting for permission and approval from external sources, and
To inspire budding creatives to dive in and find out how good it feels to play with art materials and colors that light us up! You don’t need anyone’s permission to do that either!
I believe that through creative expression, we can find our own voice and learn to express it in a joyful and soul-nourishing way.
Celebrating Mary Magdalene
What does Mary Magdalene and the ancient sacred text, The Gospel of Mary, have to say to us now?
